Superfood Spotlight: Avocados

The secret is out – avocados may be nature’s perfect food.

These beautiful green superfood fruits can be enjoyed smashed on avocado toast (hello millennials!), blended into a healthy green smoothie, or chopped and included in a fresh salad. But our favorite way to enjoy the creamy, delicious flavor of a ripe avocado is in the new ZÜPA x Whole30 Kale Avocado with Collagen!

Avocados are PACKED with nutrients. We can’t say “superfood” enough times! Full of 20 vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C which supports a healthy immune system and Vitamin K which supports bone health, avocados are the perfect way to compliment a healthy diet.  An avocado a day keeps the doctor away? 


Most Americans don't get nearly enough fiber in their diets. Fiber is critical because it leaves us feeling full until our next meal, and helps regulate blood sugar levels for improved concentration. Fiber also aids in weight loss management, as well as improved digestion.  According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, women ages 15-50 should eat 25-28 grams of fiber daily, while men of the same age group should eat 30-34 grams per day — and a serving of avocado contains 7 grams of fiber, which is already 1/3 of the recommended daily intake!


It may sound counterintuitive, but fats are actually healthy for you — if you're eating the right foods. When looking for healthy fats, avocados are always our go-to, but we also like to mix in salmon, walnuts, and eggs every once in a while to keep it interesting. Each of these foods are full of healthy fats (and are totally delicious!), which help keep our joints moving properly, our metabolism working correctly and our hair, skin and nails glowing.
